June 11
We’re on the road, having just been to Murder on the Grove where I was part of a panel, Robert Crais was funny and good-looking, Dotes got a request for a full, and we ate fabulous Thai food. :)
Now we’re doing a bit more vacation, then home to write like a fiend.
It rained the entire day today, and Dotes drove miles and miles - I should have been typing, but instead I watched Children of Men on our new tiny portable DVD player, and I finished ODD THOMAS, which was fantastic. Totally original characters and wonderful spookiness. Highly recommended.
I bought books at the conference that I have no time to read, but they do feel delicious in my hands.
Oh, also, when I get back I’ll be working with the web designer to do a new setup on the web site itself and here. We will have pictures once more!

What did you think of Children of Men? I’ve been wanting to see that one. Have a good time. I hear you on the books.
June 10th, 2007 at 10:55 pmwelcome back! Looking forward to seeing your new look. I loved Odd Thomas. The two follow-up books are very good, too. (Forever Odd, Brother Odd)
June 11th, 2007 at 11:00 amJordan, I quite liked Children of Men. There’s some very moving stuff, and also very unsettling, but well done. Not a cheerful movie, but I felt hopeful at the end.
I also saw The Lake House, which I thought was nonsense. :)
June 13th, 2007 at 3:07 pmThanks, Charlene! I’m definitely reading the next two. I think Odd is a stunning character.
I’m reading Barbara Samuel’s Lady Luck’s Map of Vegas and loving it!
June 13th, 2007 at 3:12 pmJo, NO ONE can beat Samuel (& her Wind Categories) for lyrical, lovely & incisive writing & characterizations. I’m not that fond of Women’s Fiction, but, make an exception for Samuel’s books. My fave in that genre is NO PLACE LIKE HOME, which, I believe, was her lst in that genre. If you can locate it, I think you’ll love it.
