Jo, NO ONE can beat Samuel (& her Wind Categories) for lyrical, lovely & incisive writing & characterizations. I'm not that fond of Women's Fiction, but, make an exception for Samuel's books. My fave in that genre is NO PLACE LIKE HOME, which, I believe, was her lst in that genre. If you can locate it, I think you'll love it.

Thanks, Charlene! I'm definitely reading the next two. I think Odd is a stunning character.

I'm reading Barbara Samuel's Lady Luck's Map of Vegas and loving it!

Jordan, I quite liked Children of Men. There's some very moving stuff, and also very unsettling, but well done. Not a cheerful movie, but I felt hopeful at the end.

I also saw The Lake House, which I thought was nonsense. :)

welcome back! Looking forward to seeing your new look. I loved Odd Thomas. The two follow-up books are very good, too. (Forever Odd, Brother Odd)
