The New Look

As those of you who’ve been to the site before can tell, I’m getting a new design for both the blog and the web site. I’d love comments and suggestions now, while we’re still fiddling! Thank you.

I love the new look Jo! It is so clean and fresh looking. Two thumbs up!

    Hi, I kinda lurk here.

I really like the new look. It has a really fun and interesting look to it. Kudos.

The only suggestion (and this is small) is that you might adjust the color of the comment boxes so that my cursor doesn’t disappear. The little blinky line blends in. But even if you didn’t, it wouldn’t matter. The site looks awesome.

Thanks, Susan and Jason, but I can’t take credit for the new look. It’s being done by Karen at Swank Web Style. I know she’ll be pleased with your reactions. And Jason, I’ll let her know about the cursor, thanks!

  4. Charlene Teglia says:

Gorgeous! Love it! And my eyes thank you. The old black background with light lettering was very hard to read. This is much better!

    very cool

Jo, This is a great improvement over the former one. I don’t know how the new site will be constructed, but, I would suggest that “upcoming books” & “books I’m writing” be prominently displayed at the “home page” & the “home blog page” as that’s why I usually view websites. Like the previous commenter, I am also losing my curser in the color, so, I echo his remarks.

Looks very promising so far! The comment boxes - maybe also a lighter color for them?
Other Suggestions would be: A ‘Back to the Top’ link, so I don’t have to scroll too much, at the bottom of the site, and maybe a Latest Posts listing for the sidebar?
All in all just minor things. It looks really great. Red is the color for you. Love the new font and especially the Top Secret box! Swank did great.

I love the new look. The colors are crisp, fresh yet sophisticated. It suits you well. The previously mentioned cursor thing is a bit disconcerting, but I’m sure an easy fix. I like the red script or font or whatever you call it that looks like handwriting for the headings is nice.

  9. Jo Leigh says:

Thanks, everyone for the feedback. It’s invaluable. I have another question - do you guys see (when making a comment) a box for your name, email, web site above the comment box? What browser are you using? And can everyone now see the cursor in the comment box?

    Thanks for your help!

  10. Patricia says:

Jo, I have AOL, & while I do have my name & email address shown above the comment box, I’m still losing my cursor within the posts, once it gets to the printing. However, I’m certain you’ll get it all worked out. Overall, I like this set-up better than the last.

WOW! I go away for a few days - and it’s all change. Looks great, although I have to say I kinda miss the smilies :D

I can see the name, email, website above the comment box. I am using IE7.
