We're back after a wonderful trip. Loved, loved, loved Die Hard. It was a wildly improbable ride, but I was on board for every bump and bang. I can't help it. I also heart Bruce, and his John McClaine. It was too much fun.

Transformers didn't thrill me. I just couldn't get behind the machines. I could tell lots of folks in the theater really liked it, but it was just okay for me.

I was really surprised by how much I loved Harry Potter. It taught me (again) about raising the stakes, making things personal, putting the protagonist up against the worst possible thing. The only thing I didn't like...(spoilers below so beware)

was how they concluded the Umbrage story line. I thought it was too much of a deux ex machina, that her comeuppance needed to come from the kids themselves and that it should have been much bigger. I realize they had to get to Harry & the brain intrusion with the Dark One, but still, Umbrage should have been much more satisfying.

That said, I was more engaged with this story than all the others.

Of course, now, there's work to be done. Pages to be written. Where's my wand when I need it???

Transformers and Harry Potter definitely were awesome - and I also want to see Live Free or Die Hard (hearts Willis as McClane). Enjoy the time away!
