Good Times

Went to Vegas for 24 hours. Ate amazing dim sum, saw my sister and niece for the first time in years, so that was lovely. Shopped at Trader Joe’s, which is a huge treat. Celebrated my birthday with my friend Debbi. Came home the night before the inauguration, all excited to watch the swearing in on TV while I surfed the net on my laptop. Woke up yesterday with no internet! Argh! It came back around 4:30, but I missed it during the day. I would have tweeted my happiness, my tears, my excitement. I’m fired up, all righty.

Today it’s back to work, which is good because the book is going well. Thank goodness. It has taken me such a long time to get back here. All in all, a lovely few days and life feels bright and fine. How about that? There were so many days that I lost to sadness, and even though the sorrow comes, it isn’t crippling and it’s accompanied by joyful memories.

I hope whoever drops by is also feeling good and filled with hope. :)

Edit: AMAZING pictures my nephew Rami took of the Obamas! (click to embiggen)

I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling better. And what wonderful photos! How lucky your nephew was to be so close on that amazing day.

  2. Shawn Hansen says:

The gang here is happy to hear you’re doing well, and it sounds like the trip was a blast.

    The photographs are amazing.

    Happy writing!

  3. Glenice says:

Oh what great news!!! I am so happy to hear you are making it back…it is a long process but a necessary one. It is always comforting to be able to have those good memories to think back on, isn’t it.

And of course I am VERY happy to hear the writing is going so well :)

    Those really are great pics!

  4. Jo Leigh says:

Thanks, Gabrielle! I can’t imagine how thrilling it must have been for Rami. Ah, why didn’t I visit???

Hey, Shawn. It’s good to be feeling well. It was a long, dark place. But yay for the sun coming back. Thanks.

Glenice! The memories are more precious than gold, even the ones where he was being, well, a dick. When I finally told my editor I was back to writing for real, she told me that was good, as she was about to get on a plane and come give me a shake. Actually, she’s been amazingly supportive and wonderful. Everyone has. I’m so lucky. :)

  5. Jordan says:

So glad you hear you had a wonderful time. I’m so jealous of your nephew. Would’ve LOVED to have been there for this one. :)

  6. Willa says:

    Hiya Jo *waving*

What a great post – so happy to read that the clouds of your grief are lifting – tis a horrible, draining place to be. I spat coffee reading your reply to Glenice – dick?? . . surely not? *tongue planted firmly in cheek*

And your writing is back on track – YaY! – so are you able to spill a little about your WIP? Curious (nosy!) minds would like to know.

    Welcome back Jo *smile*

    Willa.

  7. Bailey Stewart says:

    Wow, what great pictures!

Just stopping in, actually I’ve stopped in a few times and never said anything. I’m glad to know things are going okay and you are back to writing.

And I’m glad you had a great birthday.

  8. Jo Leigh says:

Jordan! Hey, I was pretty jealous, not only of him, but your trip. I’m dying to go to Scotland. Also dying to see Coraline, but that’s a whole other post.

Willa, hi my dear. It’s good to hear from you, too. Everybody’s a dick sometimes, no? Or is that just me?

About the book – it’s an Encounters – three stories in one. At moment, it’s called 3 Misses. It’s about three Broadway hopeful all going to a big audition, only none of them make it there. One is inadvertently kidnapped. One has her ankle broken. And one has to put a friendship before her own ambitions. Much nookie, much fun, and much New York color. How’s that?

Hi Bailey. Thanks for all your checking up on me. I needed it (and still do). You’re a peach!

  9. Willa says:

“Much nookie, much fun, and much New York color . . .”

Sounds great! Thanks for that. When is it due out? See, never satisfied – always want more!! *grin*

  10. Glenice says:

OH I am with Willa on this one…sounds delightful!!!!

Can’t wait for it to come out :)

It is especially those “dick” memories that make the others even better :) Who really wants someone “good” ALL the time?? How absolutely boring is that ;)
